I can confirm this:
forking qemu: qemu-system-arm -nographic -M versatilepb -m 256 -kernel
/opt/qemu/vmlinuz-2.6.26-versatile-qemu -hda /opt/qemu/base.qemu -hdb
/opt/qemu/build/qemu.10116.dev -append root=/dev/sda quiet
init=/pbuilder-run console=ttyAMA0 -serial stdio
chardev: opening backend "stdio" failed
qemu: could not open serial device 'stdio': Success
(and here it stops forever)
Please have a look if `-serial stdio' can be changed into `-nographic'
