While browsing through the strace, I saw ELOOP errors and eventually realized
that the file may be deleted because of an improper symlink. Unfortunately,
the improper symlink was on my end:
$ ls -ld /usr/lib/firefox/plugins
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Mar 10 04:10 /usr/lib/firefox/plugins ->
../mozilla/plugins
While other people may have similar setups, I doubt this bug should have a
severity of important as it currently does, and hopefully this bug has not
wasted too much developer time. Because I can upgrade the gecko-mediaplayer
package by downgrading dpkg, feel free to close this bug, as my setup works for
me.
