I don't know whether I get you right on this, but as far as I can
see, this package is in fact part of sarge, of testing, and even of
unstable the last time I checked it. And I've just had a fresh
installation of sarge here, not an upgrade from woody.

I'm talking about 'blas-test' version 1.1-14, which depends on one
of atlas2-base, blas, or blas2. So yes, my bug is specific to
version 2 of atlas, if you'd say so. But no, the package has not
been removed. One might consider it deprecated on the advent of
atlas3, but it is still in the repositories and even the only
version usable in conjunction with some packages that only work
with atlas2 (as of sarge, eg cernlib).
