There are no changes about DVD-RW since 0.7.6.
Not much hope for a miracle cure.

Is libburn at work here ?
Last time i checked, Brasero used dvd+rw-tools
to operate DVD media.

By what tool do you try to inspect the DVD-RW ?

What reply do you get from
  dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/...
with the media tray already loaded ?
