Hi, Thanks for your interest, in #549967 I commented why I can not upload a version 0.25 or 0.26 currently.
However the libkate-dev and liboggkate-dev build dependency has already been added to packaging repo of ffmpeg2theora, here is the commit: http://git.debian.org/?p=collab-maint/ffmpeg2theora.git;a=commit;h=1b6fc3b217b235b2976a1b29f4a13ce7205a26f5 Please bear with me while it becomes possible to compile a new ffmpeg on Debian sid. If subtitle support is really important for you even with the current 0.24 version, you can try to install libkate-dev, liboggkate-dev and then after an `apt-get source ffmpeg2theora' try `dpkg-buildpackage -b' in the source directory.
