I am unable to reproduce this on my workstation. When proceeding as you described above, icedove is launched minimized to the system tray. I just need some more information before forwarding this upstream. What is the desktop environment and window manager are you using (gnome, KDE || metacity, compiz, kwm)? When launching icedove (or any application) with alltray through a terminal, is it started minimized to the systray? Thank you for taking from your time to writing this bug report.
