Sorry, I totally forgot to tell the hosts kernel. Here it is: Linux
2.6.32-3-686 #1 SMP i686 GNU/Linux

The md5 is the same.

I too have no idea how to use kvm with a serial console. I'll try to
find a way and if I manage to do it, I'll post the output here.
