I've done more experimenting regarding this issue.

With the patch and "disp_priority=2" module parameter the glitching is significantly reduced (though not completely). It makes my computer more usable.

2.6.34-rc5 with "disp_priority=2" is (much) worse than 2.6.32-4_2.6.32-10 (with patch), however there seem to be many more module parameters that might influence it which I have not tested. The parameters are related to power management and when playing a bit with http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/airlied/drm-2.6.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/drm-radeon-testing changing the "power_state" settings seemed to influence the frequency of the glitches which would imply it has something to do with power management.

Anyhow, long story short: the patch is a big step in the right direction for 2.6.32 and if it could be added to the "official" Debian kernel I would be quite happy.
