Package: netbase
Version: 4.34
Severity: important

The default config for networking on new installs now seems to be
'allow-hotplug'. The reasons for this
have been discussed before I beleive. However, as this is the default, I feel
it's important that it
behaves as one might expect from 'auto' (the previous default) in that when you
restart networking, any
network configuratnio for that interface is updated.

ie,

If I change my IP address in /etc/network/interfaces, and do a
/etc/init.d/networking restart, these changes
should take effect.

I am aware that I could reconfigure the IP myself, however I prefer to test the
itnerfaces file to give me
confidence it will work as expeted after a reboot.

Thanks
