question!?!?!?!??!!?
dude, look at the bug report i sent. it shows how the ROOT system tried
to detect -fPIC. if their scheme is incorrect, i will gladly notify
CERN/ROOT team. but if its easy to turn on -fPIC for the static version
of libgslcblas.a (your /usr/lib/libgsl.a happily passes their test),
then why not.
