Could you run with --verbose --debug=notice so the umounts get logged? Thanks. The contents of /proc/mounts before and after are also needed. Better still, could you additionally run (before ending the session) /usr/lib/schroot/schroot-listmounts -m $chroot_root and see what schroot thinks it should umount. schroot umounts everything in /proc/mounts under the given root.
