Hi, I just figured out that I was lacking the lcl-gtk2 package. It wasn't part of the default LCL setup, although the default lazarus templates assume it to be present. maybe it make sense to adjust the deps to make them more newbie friendly. I had to figure out what 'Interfaces' corresponds too, what LCL is, what packages provide it and that it has multiple backends ...
However, the access violation when opening the compiler options dialog remains.
