Yes, this workaround solves the problem. Now sweethome3d started successfully. Cleaning the LANG variable does not helps anyway, but setting LC_ALL to en_US.UTF-8 can can work-around the problem is there are no prefs.xml file in the user preferences location. -- Alexander Galanin
