Package: ghostscript Version: 8.71~dfsg-4 Severity: important Tags: upstream
Some PDF readers (evince, xpdf) and the pdffonts command[*] yields lots of errors Error: Illegal entry in bfrange block in ToUnicode CMap on PDF files generated by ps2pdf from ghostscript 8.71 (this is not a Debian-specific problem as I have exactly the same problem when running ps2pdf from ghostscript 8.71 on my Mac OS X machine). If I revert to ghostscript and libgs8 8.70~dfsg-2.1, and run ps2pdf, the problem disappears. However I don't know whether the real problem is in ghostscript or in the viewers and pdffonts (which seem to be all based on the same original xpdf source as libpoppler is also based on it, though). Even if this is a bug in the viewers and pdffonts, ghostscript should probably avoid triggering it (if there are no drawbacks).
