Package: system-config-printer Version: 1.0.0-6 Severity: normal
When setting up an LPD printer with the gnome Printers applet, selecting 'LPD/LPR printer', entering a hostname or IP address and clicking on 'Probe', tha applet hangs indefinitely. The printer concerned is an HP LJ 6mp connected to a cheap and nasty Netgear print server. Setting up the printer by manually specifying the queue and so on works fine, but probing for it doesn't. At the veyr least, it should fail/timeout gracefully. Terminal output from the applet appears below: # system-config-printer /usr/bin/system-config-printer:181: GtkWarning: GtkSpinButton: setting an adjustment with non-zero page size is deprecated self.xml = gtk.glade.XML(xml, domain = domain) /usr/bin/system-config-printer:262: DeprecationWarning: Use the new widget gtk.Tooltip self.tooltips = gtk.Tooltips() /usr/bin/system-config-printer:263: DeprecationWarning: Use the new widget gtk.Tooltip self.tooltips.enable() PASSTHRU The line 'PASSTHRU' appears when you click on the 'probe' button.
