Package: git-core Version: 1:1.7.0.4-2 I assume your intent is to symlink the doc directory. However, dpkg will not replace an empty directory with a symlink on upgrade; that has to be done manually in a maintainer script. I purged and reinstalled git-core and got the symlink.
