I don't really see why the window manager would have anything to do with it anyway. Either mouse movement events get reported to the window in question, or they don't. The real issue is, why WebKit (or whatever) feels compelled to make a DNS query for "." every time it receives a mouse move event. As I already mentioned, neither Galeon nor Iceweasel have this problem; it seems to be WebKit-specific.
