I have stumbled into this problem today, too. In the computer that I have at the work, it was installed aMSN version 0.98.1-2. I upgraded to 0.98.3-1,¹ and the problem isn't in that version given that it has the needed changes for the new protocol. I am waiting for someone to upload the new upstream version of aMSN for me.
