Package: cron Version: 3.0pl1-109 Severity: normal Hi,
Cron sends me warning mails like this: ------------------------------------------------------------ /etc/cron.daily/standard: Some local filesystems do not have lost+found directories. This means that these filesystems will not be able to recover lost files when the filesystem is checked after a crash. Consider creating a lost+found directory with mklost+found(8). The following lost+found directories were not available: /media/newroot/lost+found ------------------------------------------------------------ However, xfs_repair(8) indicates no such directories are necessary: ------------------------------------------------------------ lost+found The directory lost+found does not have to already exist in the filesystem being repaired. If the directory does not exist, it is automatically cre‐ ated if required. If it already exists, it will be checked for consistency and if valid will be used for additional orphaned files. Invalid lost+found directories are removed and recreated. Existing files in a valid lost+found are not removed or renamed. ------------------------------------------------------------ So, Observed behavior: /etc/cron.daily/standard checks whether XFS filesystems have lost+found and reports if it contains files or if it is entirely missing. Expected behavior: /etc/cron.daily/standard still checks and reports files in lost+found directories of XFS filesystems, however does not warn if the directory is missing.
