Hi! I can not reproduce this on 4.7.0.3.
On step 6 you CAN move to the second line and if you hit delete twice on step 7 the size will be 0 bytes as expected (1 time for a, 1 time for \n character). Also it does not add newlines to already existing files on save as it should so I suggest that it is fixed now and will be closed with the next upload. -- Sincerely yours, Yury V.
