Indeed this seems to be the reason. Documents sent with the following source: ------=_NextPart_000_001C_01CAD63F.66378A00 Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-excel; name="mydocument.xls" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="mydocument.xls" 0M8R4KGxGuEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPgADAP7/CQAGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABAAAAAQAAAAAAAAAA ... ... Display correctly. It seems that thunderbird likes to use inline mode instead of attachement. I do not know if it is because the file was dragged and dropped by the user that sent the email though.
