Package: earcandy
Version: 0.5-1.1

A desktop file with a space before Encoding= causes earcandy to fail to start
ConfigParser.ParsingError: File contains parsing errors:
/usr/share/applications/compiz-settings.desktop
        [line  2]: ' Encoding=UTF-8\n'

the file looks like this
[Desktop Entry]
 Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Compiz Settings Manager
Comment=Configure Compiz
Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/compiz-settings/logo.png
Exec=compiz-settings
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Settings;

deleting the space before the key word Encoding allows earcandy to start.
