That *really* sounds like some *weird* ACPI bug, not a smapi one. Can you confirm the bug with all tp-smapi modules (tp_smapi, thinkpad_ec, hdaps) unloaded/never loaded since boot? If so, we'll have to search somewhere else. You run Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (from linux-image-2.6.26-2-686 version 2.6.26-21lenny4) currently, which was it before the break?
