Package: fbpanel
Version: 4.12-1.1
Severity: normal

Hi!

I think I found a bug in fbpanel.
I use it with fluxbox, I don't know if the bug may be reproduced with
other window managers.

Let me explain.

I can iconify a "normal" window in at least two ways:

 (a1) right-click on its (fbpanel) taskbar item and select Iconify from
      the pop-up menu

 (b1) double-left-click on its taskbar item

On the other hand, I can raise an iconified "normal" window in at least
two ways:

 (a2) right-click on its taskbar item and select Raise from the pop-up
      menu

 (b2) left-click on its taskbar item

However, when the window is "sticky" (I mean: it is present in every
workspace, rather than in only one), both methods (a1) and (b1) work
as intended (they iconify the window), but only method (a2) can
actually raise an iconified "sticky" window.
Method (b2) does not seem to work at all for "sticky" windows.

Awkwardly enough, if I issue the following commands in a terminal

  $ killall -TERM fbpanel
  $ fbpanel &

while I am inside my X session, the newly launched fbpanel instance
works correctly: method (b2) begins to work as intended.

In other words, the bug may be reproduced with the fbpanel that is
launched by my ~/.xsession script, but not with a restarted fbpanel...

Another problem (probably related to the same bug) is that "normal"
windows are shown with square brackets around the window title, when
they are iconified, but "sticky" windows are not. This makes detecting
iconified window taskbar items harder, whenever there are a number
of identically titled windows in the workspace...

The lack of square brackets for "sticky" windows is not cured by
restarting fbpanel, though, so maybe the two problems are not caused
by the same bug.
