Package: network-manager Version: 0.8-1 Severity: normal Hi,
I installed Debian Lenny on an DEC Digital Personal Workstation 433au (Miata) machine and upgraded it to unstable later on. Checking the syslog, I found the following messages from network-manager which I have seen on Alpha machines so far only. I have seen these messages on other Alpha machines as well, also with various kernel versions but haven't seen it reported before. Here is what I get in the syslog, directly during boot when network-manager is started: Apr 2 14:23:41 test-adrian1 NetworkManager: <info> starting... Apr 2 14:23:41 test-adrian1 kernel: [ 37.167949] NetworkManager(1113): unaligned trap at 000002000056d408: 00000001200d579c 29 1 Apr 2 14:23:41 test-adrian1 kernel: [ 37.167949] NetworkManager(1113): unaligned trap at 000002000056d41c: 00000001200d57a4 29 1 Apr 2 14:23:41 test-adrian1 kernel: [ 37.167949] NetworkManager(1113): unaligned trap at 000002000056d428: 00000001200d57ac 29 2 Apr 2 14:23:41 test-adrian1 kernel: [ 37.167949] NetworkManager(1113): unaligned trap at 000002000056d408: 00000001200d579c 29 1 the messages repeat after some time: Apr 2 14:24:29 test-adrian1 NetworkManager: <info> (eth0): DHCP transaction took too long, stopping it. I suspect it to be related with this problem with the tulip driver module in the kernel, as it produces a lot of these messages: Apr 2 14:24:33 test-adrian1 kernel: [ 89.918899] 0000:00:03.0: tulip_stop_rxtx() failed (CSR5 0xf0260000 CSR6 0xb3862002) Apr 2 14:24:39 test-adrian1 kernel: [ 95.919872] 0000:00:03.0: tulip_stop_rxtx() failed (CSR5 0xf0260000 CSR6 0xb3862002) Apr 2 14:24:45 test-adrian1 kernel: [ 101.920846] 0000:00:03.0: tulip_stop_rxtx() failed (CSR5 0xf0260000 CSR6 0xb3862002) Apr 2 14:24:51 test-adrian1 kernel: [ 107.921819] 0000:00:03.0: tulip_stop_rxtx() failed (CSR5 0xf0260000 CSR6 0xb3862002) I the Alpha port is not that popular anymore and has been dropped for Squeeze, but maybe these problems might also occur on non-Alpha systems. But as long the Alpha port is in unstable, I think it's good to report these problems.
