Package: logrotate
Version: 3.7.8-5
Severity: minor

Hi.

The logrotate(8) manpage describes:
>compressext
>Specifies which extension to use on compressed logfiles, if com‐
>pression is enabled. The default follows that of the configured
>compression command.

It seems that "The default follows that of the configured compression command."
is wrong or at least misleading.
If I use e.g. another compression command like bzip2 or xz, the extension
is still ".gz" unless I actually set "compressext .bz2/.xz"

Cheers,
Chris.
