(apologies, I know nothing about Xinerama, and I'm currently onboard a train so cannot check right now, but) isn't a WM involved in this kind of things? In which case, does trying another one help? When you say lock, I assume the server isn't actually deadlocked, it's “just” you're switching quickly between 2 (or a limited number of) positions on screen, and input being directed once here once there?
