I too experience this bug under package "qemu" 0.9.1-10lenny1 when
testing a custom Debian Live that uses package "openbox" 3.4.7.2-3.
The so-so workaround I'm using is to invoke "qemu" with the "-std-vga"
argument, which, at least on my workstation, avoids the bug.
An alternative workaround is to prevent the X server in the guest OS
from selecting 24bpp for the screen, perhaps conditioned on whether QEMU
was detected. I'd prefer that the bug be fixed in "openbox" or "qemu"
such kludgey workarounds are not necessary.
