But in lenny, for the same data, GdGraph always print the shadow and a tiny border on the left and right of the bar even if the y value is 0. These both image was generated by the same script on a etch and lenny server

Thanks for your bugreport!

Please try install the Etch version of libgd-graph-perl in your Lenny system (it should not cause dependency problems) and report back here if the problem then goes away. (if not the problem stems from another library deeper down the chain and I will prepare another test for you to try out). The libgd-graph-perl package released with Etch is available here: http://packages.debian.org/etch/all/libgd-graph-perl/download
