I'm aware of this fact. Our codebase works just fine when compiled against X server core up until 1.6, but not anymore since X server 1.7. However, the X core developers haven't answered my question as to what might have changed in the X server that would explain this sudden breakage, so I'm at loss as far as debugging this.
