Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

APT has a feature to mark dependencies from meta packages
as not automatically installed if the package belongs to
a section called 'metapackages'.

It would be great if we could add such a section and move
meta packages such as 'gnome' to it; to allow users to
uninstall a single application without removing their
whole desktop in autoremove; just because the top meta
package was removed.

It also allows us to put transitional packages there;
in order to have their replacement packages not being
marked as automatically installed.

Regards,
Julian
