It certainly should not affect the Ethernet adapter. I recommend that you do not use the acpi_osi="Linux" parameter. Please report the problem with eeepc-laptop at <http://bugzilla.kernel.org>, under product 'ACPI', component 'Platform Drivers'. Let us know the bug number so that we can track it.
