Dear Joey,

thank you very much for developing mr. I think it has an enormous
potential for helping cross-team work in Debian.

In the case of the pkg-eucalyptus Alioth packaging team, I am working on a mr
configuration file that will help to check out our core packages from the
pkg-eucalyptus and and pkg-java repositories, as well as some of their
dependancies.

(If you are curious, you can have a look at:
svn cat svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-eucalyptus/tools/mrconfig )

We are using git with the git-buildpackage helper tool, and I am not aware of a
single git command that would clone the git repository with the same layout as
the one obtained with the git-import-dsc command. “debcheckout --git-track='*'
<repo>” would, but this is not so easy to remember for beginners, and requires
the package to have been uploaded, which is not friendly with collaborative
preparation of new packages.

Using mr, I could prepare a config file that makes the checkout as needed (and
sets the user.name and user.email according to the devscripts environment
variables, etc.). However mr does not support partial checkouts.

I hope that this use case will motivate to add support for partial checkouts.

Have a nice week-end,
