Why isn't fusesmb not sufficient? This package is already in Debian, and is
what the NEWS file in bzr points at.

Because it does not allow mounting shares.

It just allows "browsing" the network.

It's a completely different function.

For example, it is not possible to have it ask for a password when connecting to a share or it is not possible to connect to a share which is not advertised on the local ethernet segment.
I guess I can manually set the binary suid root in my debian-live images
until a fix is available.
In the next upload, cifs-utils will not support running suid at all, per
upstream.

Then I should stay clear of that upload I guess as there is no way to mount cifs shares as user after that in Debian.

Thanks

Michal
