Mostly because, IIRC, the fix is not immediately easy to identity and was mixed into a bunch of other updates to CIFS utilities. If someone wants us to consider the fix for lenny, it would help to find again the first Debian bug where this was reported...the upstream bug the corresponds to it...the fix....etc. Nothing I can really commit to.
