You can simply use the in tree module. It's far more recent thant what's shipped with kvm 88. Please note that kvm only lives in experimental atm in case there should be any more upstream kvm snapshots (though I start to doubt that). qemu-kvm is the stable version and it's shipped without any modules since in only uses the in kernel tree ones.
