Package: snmpd
Version: 5.4.1~dfsg-12
Severity: normal

snmpd segfaults with the following message in syslog/messages:

kernel: [5038779.180228] snmpd[28728]: segfault at 1 ip f7e1f333 sp ff9b89b0
error 4 in libnetsnmpmibs.so.15.1.0[f7df0000+10c000]

This is apparently an issue that has affected others:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/netsnmp/+bug/489215
http://www.mail-archive.com/ubuntu-server-b...@lists.ubuntu.com/msg26321.html

And online resources indicate that 5.5 has a patch to fix it. Any chance of a
backport into a stable release of the snmpd package? I think this is a fairly
serious bug, as I consider this to be a fairly core functionality of SNMP -- it
hurts extensibility of the daemon to not be able to use exec without fear of
segfault.

Thanks
