i found the issue to be when i double-clicked a directory (and therefore entered it) i thought this would select the directory. Perhaps the solution is if no directory is selected, the current directory displayed in the view would be inferred.
This was tricky for me to figure out because my first view showed /Desktop, where i wanted to save the files to. i thought i could just hit "Save", but nothing would happen. Already being in /Desktop, i did not think at first to navigate to / and then choose /Desktop.
