Package: xfce4-terminal Version: 0.2.8-5 Severity: normal
We had a user with a failed login attempt on one of our servers using non-ascii characters for the username. When xfce4-terminal tries to 'cat' the file, the terminal becomes unusable. The behavior is the same as if you tried to 'cat' a binary file. I am reporting this as a bug because both xterm on my Debian Lenny machine, xfce4-terminal on 0.4.8 on my Pentoo testing VM, and putty all do not show this behavior. The backport depends shown below are left over from when I tested the xfce4-terminal from lenny-backports. The xfce4-terminal was tested on this issue with both the regular depends from Lenny, as well as the depends from Lenny-backports. I can not include the entire file but I can include the offending line: Mar 2 16:50:53 psc login[7508]: FAILED LOGIN 1 FROM PC-ortize FOR 0001, Authentication failure -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.4 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686-bigmem (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages xfce4-terminal depends on: ii exo-utils 0.3.101-2~bpo50+1 Utility files for libexo ii libatk1.0-0 1.22.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.7-18lenny2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdbus-1-3 1.2.1-5+lenny1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.76-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libexo-0.3-0 0.3.101-2~bpo50+1 Library with extensions for Xfce ii libglib2.0-0 2.16.6-3 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.12.12-1~lenny1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libstartup-notificatio 0.9-1 library for program launch feedbac ii libvte9 1:0.16.14-4 Terminal emulator widget for GTK+ ii libx11-6 2:1.1.5-2 X11 client-side library ii libxfce4util4 4.6.1-1~bpo50+1 Utility functions library for Xfce Versions of packages xfce4-terminal recommends: ii dbus 1.2.1-5+lenny1 simple interprocess messaging syst xfce4-terminal suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
