Package: xdg-utils Version: 1.0.2+cvs20100223-1 Severity: normal After updating to the latest version, xdg-open does not open urls correctly all the time. There appears to be a problem with detecting the mime type.
Examples: Using xdg-open to open an image url: $ xdg-open http://www.debian.org/Pics/debian.png xdg-mime: file 'http://www.debian.org/Pics/debian.png' does not exist xdg-mime: mimetype argument missing Try 'xdg-mime --help' for more information. Opening "http://www.debian.org/Pics/debian.png" with eog (image/png) The preferred application for opening image files is used, when it should call the web browser. Using xdg-open to open a normal url: mich...@debian:~$ xdg-open http://debian.org xdg-mime: file 'http://debian.org' does not exist xdg-mime: mimetype argument missing Try 'xdg-mime --help' for more information. Could not determine mimetype for file: http://debian.org This does open in a web browser, but that error message doesn't look right. It looks like xdg is not detecting the difference between an url and a file input. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (650, 'unstable'), (600, 'stable'), (100, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-trunk-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash xdg-utils depends on no packages.
