I have no idea what is wrong with your machine, nor how to reproduce the problem. As far as I can tell from the insserv source and test suite behaviour, it work as it should and will do what it is supposed to do when the rest of the operating system work as it should. I suspect there is something else unrelated to insserv wrong with your installation, but do not know what more to ask for to try to pin-point it. As far as I can see, this is a rare error that do not really make insserv unfit for release. Because of this, I reduce the severity to important and ask for help.
