Package: iceweasel Version: 3.5.6-2 Severity: normal
Hi, This report is about the applications used by iceweasel to open downloaded files. It seems the preferences for these appliactions are ignored when the files are opened from the "Downloads" window. I'm using KDE, but I think this applies to other environments as well. As an example, find a link to a pdf file. Here's a small one (it's currently the second link on a google search for "short tutorial pdf") http://www.isi.edu/natural-language/teaching/cs562/2009/readings/B06.pdf When I click this link, the file is downloaded and opened in my selected pdf handler, okular. This is as it should be. However, now, if I go to the downloads window (either one left open from the download, or one opened through Tools->Downloads), and try to open it from there (either double-click or right-click->Open), it opens in kghostview, which was the default pdf handler (I know this because I tested on a clean profile). Likewise, "open folder" opens in Nautilus, no matter how much it is told to use Dolphin. I believe this bug is a generalization of the infamous #490665; it may be also related to #529459 (it is unclear there what method was used to open the file). Thanks, Shai. -- Package-specific info: -- Extensions information Name: Default Location: /usr/lib/iceweasel/extensions/{972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} Package: iceweasel Status: enabled -- Plugins information Name: Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_18-b07 Location: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.18/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so Package: sun-java6-bin Status: enabled Name: VLC Multimedia Plug-in Location: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libvlcplugin.so Package: mozilla-plugin-vlc Status: enabled Name: Skype Buttons for Kopete Location: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libskypebuttons.so Package: kopete Status: enabled Name: Helix DNA Plugin: RealPlayer G2 Plug-In Compatible (compatible; Totem) Location: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-complex-plugin.so Package: totem-mozilla Status: enabled Name: VLC Multimedia Plugin (compatible Totem 2.28.5) Location: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-cone-plugin.so Package: totem-mozilla Status: enabled Name: Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (compatible; Totem) Location: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-gmp-plugin.so Package: totem-mozilla Status: enabled Name: DivX® Web Player Location: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-mully-plugin.so Package: totem-mozilla Status: enabled Name: QuickTime Plug-in 7.2.0 Location: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-narrowspace-plugin.so Package: totem-mozilla Status: enabled Name: Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_18 Location: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.18/jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so Package: sun-java6-bin Status: enabled Name: Shockwave Flash Location: /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so Status: enabled -- Addons package information ii iceweasel 3.5.6-2 Web browser based on Firefox ii kopete 4:4.3.4-2 instant messenger for KDE 4 ii mozilla-plugin 1.0.5-1 multimedia plugin for web browsers based on ii sun-java6-bin 6.18-2 Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (ar ii totem-mozilla 2.28.5-1 Totem Mozilla plugin -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-trunk-686 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages iceweasel depends on: ii debianutils 3.2.2 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii fontconfig 2.8.0-2 generic font configuration library ii libc6 2.10.2-5 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.3-2 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.22.4-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.18.6-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libnspr4-0d 4.8.3-1 NetScape Portable Runtime Library ii libstdc++6 4.4.3-2 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii procps 1:3.2.8-7 /proc file system utilities ii psmisc 22.10-1 utilities that use the proc file s ii xulrunner-1.9.1 1.9.1.6-2 XUL + XPCOM application runner iceweasel recommends no packages.
