The whole point of having a "trash" is so that you can store discarded messages there for some period of time before really deleting them. If you cannot delete only some messages from the trash, the only options are (1) to let the trash grow indefinitely or (2) periodically delete messages that have just been discarded, defeating the purpose of having the trash in the first place.
