Package: xapian-omega Version: 1.0.17-1 Severity: wishlist
(I have xapian installed on a different machine, hence the missing versions below.) It seems there's no way to skip files that have not been modified since omindex last indexed them. This looks like a huge missed opportunity to speed things up. In general, it is disconcerting that omindex can only be given a whole directory to process, and only one at a time. The Unix Way (TM), and some existing utilities like cpio and pax, suggest another interface: accept the list of files to be added or updated on standard input, either newline or NUL separated. I understand that this may be a limitation of xapian itself - feel free to reassign if that's the case. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32.8-core2-i (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages xapian-omega depends on: ii libc6 2.10.2-2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.4.2-9 GCC support library ii libstdc++6 4.4.2-9 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libxapian15 1.0.17-1 Search engine library Versions of packages xapian-omega recommends: ii apache2 2.2.14-5 Apache HTTP Server metapackage ii apache2-mpm-prefork [httpd-cg 2.2.14-5 Apache HTTP Server - traditional n Versions of packages xapian-omega suggests: pn antiword <none> (no description available) pn catdoc <none> (no description available) ii catdvi 0.14-11+b1 DVI to plain text translator pn djvulibre-bin <none> (no description available) ii ghostscript 8.70~dfsg-2.1 The GPL Ghostscript PostScript/PDF pn libwpd-tools <none> (no description available) pn libwps-tools <none> (no description available) ii perl 5.10.1-9 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii poppler-utils [xpdf-utils] 0.12.2-2 PDF utilitites (based on libpopple pn unrtf <none> (no description available) ii unzip 6.0-1 De-archiver for .zip files -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
