Package: postgresql-8.3
Version: 8.3.9-0lenny1
Severity: important

After installing Postgres, starting the server with '/etc/init.d/postgresql-8.3
start'
fails silently (there is no output at all and the server is not started). This
was a clean
install, no previous version of postgres were installed.

It turns out startup script is looking for the Postgres configuration
files/directory (/etc/postgres/8.3/...)
but these are not created when Postgres is installed.
