Package: icedove Version: 3.0.1-2 Severity: normal Hi!
I see the same behaviour. It's a converted profile from icedove-2.x, and I'm not running a GNOME or KDE environment, only plain fluxbox. strace shows upon clicking an URL: [pid 4490] execve("/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox", ["/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox", "http://www.snowtrex.de/oesterrei"...], [/* 50 vars */]) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) The icedove package doesn't contain any reference to mozilla-firefox, at least I wasn't able to find them with grep and strings. Same holds true for stuff in /etc/, but I found a local config entry in ~/.gconf/: desktop/gnome/url-handlers/https/%gconf.xml: <stringvalue>/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox "%s"</stringvalue> desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/%gconf.xml: <stringvalue>/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox "%s"</stringvalue> desktop/gnome/url-handlers/gopher/%gconf.xml: <stringvalue>/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox "%s"</stringvalue> desktop/gnome/url-handlers/chrome/%gconf.xml: <stringvalue>/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox "%s"</stringvalue> desktop/gnome/url-handlers/ftp/%gconf.xml: <stringvalue>/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox "%s"</stringvalue> That's the culprit. I then went to iceweasel's (weasel!) preference menu, chose the Advanced-Tab/General and made Iceweasel the default browser. (section System Defaults) One could argue that icedove shouldn't care about the GNOME setting, but simply call x-www-browser. I guess that's the question what's more important: system preferences (x-www-browser via /etc/alternatives or user preferences via ~/.gconf). YMMV.
