please note that upstream has marked this bug as a duplicate of (upstream) bug #1741. While the patch provided therein [0] is probably a more accurate fix of the problem in this particular case, I strongly suggest to fix the missing initialization as well to avoid similar issues to pop up in the future. For the sake of completeness I've attached a (trivial) patch in the hope that this is easier to read for upstream than my initial (kinda long) report.
