Thanks for your report. We have just released a new 1.6.0-1 version, so it would be nice if you could test it and tell us if the issue has been resolved or not.
The package has a new upstream maintainer and has received quite some work since the last release. For the other code issues mentioned in comments here, it would be fantastic if you could provide patches and send them either upstream or to us for review. It would make sense to open separate Debian bug reports for each of them to keep track of it, since they are not necessarily related to this bug report.
