Package: grub-pc Version: 1.98~20100128-1 Severity: important I full upgraded my machine and:
/usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: unknown filesystem. Auto-detection of a filesystem module failed. Please specify the module with the option `--modules' explicitly. Generating grub.cfg ... Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-trunk-amd64 Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-trunk-amd64 /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: unknown filesystem. /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: unknown filesystem. Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-1-amd64 Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-1-amd64 /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: unknown filesystem. /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: unknown filesystem. done Then, if I reboot, Grub does not boots (it does not even show the images selection menu). It complains about a missing variable. I can work around this loading the debian installer in rescue mode and then downgrading to grub-pc_1.98~20100115-1. The interesting thing about this issue is that I can only reproduce it on my laptop, a Dell Latitude e5500. I have upgraded the package in several more machines without problems. Please do not heasitate to contact me if I can be of any further help.
