Hmm, this is MUCH better than the other scripts and/or namings proposed. Since you already asked if to be added to the autoconf package, I will just keep monitoring the bug as long as I get the CCs. If you decide it is best done in autotools-dev, when you reach the final version of the script, reassign it to autotools-dev and attach a NMU patch. After that, if I don't get back to you in a week, pester me for an upload.
